<p>It’s that special time of year again when Monterey transforms into a jazz lover’s paradise. The 54th annual <a href="http://www.montereyjazzfestival.org/2011/">Monterey Jazz Festival </a>kicks off Friday afternoon with plenty of entertainment and excitement spread throughout the weekend. Dozens of artists will perform on eight stages at the <a href="http://www.montereycountyfair.com/">Monterey County Fairgrounds</a>. Big name performing artists include Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins, India Arie and Huey Lewis and the News. Gates open at 6pm on Friday, 11:30am on Saturday and 11am on Sunday with nonstop music into the wee hours of the night. 2004 Fairground Road, Monterey. <p>The <a href="http://www.mazdaraceway.com/modspace-american-le-mans-monterey-presented-patron">ModSpace American Le Mans</a> heats up the track at the <a href="http://www.mazdaraceway.com">Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca</a> all weekend long.  The series is comprised of multiple classes of cars with brands ranging from Acura, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Corvette, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar and Mazda. Friday kicks things off with several practice and qualifying races. On Saturday contenders will race for six exciting hours from 1:30pm-7:30pm to battle it out for the winner of the ModSpace American Le Mans. Sunday will round out the event with the Cooper Tire Prototype Lites Championship, IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama and Pirelli World Challenge Cadillac Grand Prix of Monterey  presented by Grassroots Motorsports Magazine. <p>Leapin’ Lizards! <a href="http://www.pacrep.org/Annie">Annie the Musical</a> is playing at the Outdoor Forest Theatre in <a href="http://www.seemonterey.com/carmel-by-the-sea-california">Carmel-by-the-Sea</a> all weekend long. The entire family will love the classic story of orphan Annie and how she went from a hard-knock life to living with billionaire Daddy Warbucks.  7:30pm on Friday and Saturday and 2 pm on Sunday. Santa Rita Avenue, Carmel.</p>
<p>Bring the whole family to <a href="http://www.seemonterey.com/monterey-california">Monterey</a>’s Custom House Plaza for the <a href="http://www.pacrep.org/Calendar ">Monterey Bay FallFest Arts &amp; Crafts Faire</a>. On Saturday and Sunday visitors can purchase homemade fall décor, enjoy tasty treats from food vendors and be entertained with live music. 11am-5pm. 20 Custom House Plaza, Monterey. Steve was once the guitarist for famed heartthrob Tom Jones but has since been living in Pebble Beach and performing at events such as the Monterey Jazz Festival, the US Open and Concours d’Elegance. Today&#8217;s hike will take visitors to the &#8220;other side&#8221; of Garland Ranch. Hikers will use the Gabilan trail, Spring trail and return on the Laureles trail. Other activities include Bible and life application teachings by well-known and gifted speakers, children’s activities, camping, shopping and food booths, all in a county fair atmosphere. <p>The <a href="http://www.steinbeck.org">National Steinbeck Center</a> honors the great 20th-century writer John Steinbeck during the <a href="http://www.steinbeck.org/pages/steinbeck-festival">Steinbeck Festival</a> this weekend. The theme for the 31st annual festival is “Friends and Foes” and will feature film and theatrical presentations, speeches and discussions, children&#8217;s art workshops and tours of the local area. <p>Watch Toro Park in Monterey County transform into Scotland this weekend at the <a href="http://www.montereyscotgames.com/">Monterey Scottish Games &amp; Celtic Festival</a>! The 44th annual two-day event will please the crowd with music from pipe bands, Highland dancing and athletic events from the emerald lands of Scotland and Ireland. <p>The 74th <a href="http://www.bachfestival.org">Carmel Bach Festival</a> wraps up this weekend in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Friday’s concert will feature War and Peace: Landscapes of the Soul with a talk preceding the performance. <p>It’s time for <a href="http://www.seemonterey.com/pacific-grove-california">Pacific Grove</a>’s most highly anticipated event of the year, <a href="http://www.feast-of-lanterns.org/calendar.html">The Feast of Lanterns</a>!  For over one hundred years the citizens of Pacific Grove have celebrated its history and culture with this popular summer festival. On Friday, enjoy the Feast of Lanterns Pet Parade where pets will march the streets of Lighthouse Avenue with their owners beginning at 2:30pm. At 6pm, dance the night away with the Royal Court at Chautauqua Hall during the Dance Party. Saturday is Pageant Day at Lovers Point Beach beginning at 11am. The day will include children&#8217;s activities, food booths and a sand castle contest. The pageant will begin at 8pm. Don’t miss the return of the fireworks this year! <p>The 16th annual <a href="http://www.mbayreggaefest.net/">Monterey Bay Reggaefest</a> happens this weekend at the <a href="http://www.montereycountyfair.com/">Monterey County Fairgrounds</a>. As one of the largest reggae festivals in Northern California, the 3-day celebration will feature over 20 performances from star reggae performers, dancehall acts and cultural dancers. This year’s performers include Inner Circle, Fiji, Wailing Souls, Anthony B, New Kingston, Mystic Roots, The Green and many more! Friday-Sunday, 2004 Fairground Road, Monterey. <p><a href="http://www.thefirstteeopen.com/">Nature Valley’s First Tee Open</a> at <a href="http://www.seemonterey.com/pebble-beach-california">Pebble Beach</a> will kick off on Tuesday with practice rounds and end with a final round of golf on Sunday. The First Tee Open is a 54-hole golf event that features 78 Champions Tour players and 78 junior golfers ages 15-18. This competition aims to earn money for The First Tee charity which gives disadvantaged youth the opportunity to play golf. Rounds begin at 7:30pm daily. Pebble Beach. <p><a href="http://www.mazdaraceway.com/pages/Grand-Am_Rolex_Sports_Car_Series">Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca</a> is the place to be this weekend for the <a href="http://www.grand-am.com/">Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series</a>. This sports car series is one of the most competitive professional road racing championships in North America. The Daytona Prototype class has gained recognition with superstar drivers and has revolutionized sports car racing. Ladies, did I mention that Patrick Dempsey aka McDreamy, will be racing?
