Choose from three different showings of “Introspection” performed by the Monterey Symphony this weekend! Max Bragado-Darman masterfully conducts this all-strings program and Anna Petrova makes her debut with Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 13 in C Major. Celebrate the return of the gray whales at Whalefest Monterey! Old Fisherman’s Wharf will be full of activities ranging from live music, lectures, historic wharf walks, to whale watching trips on the bay. 9am-5pm, Old Fisherman’s’ Wharf, Monterey. Free admission.
Enjoy a “Robert Burns Supper” this evening at Casa Serrano. Don’t know what a Robert Burns Supper is? A Burns supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns, widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland, and author of many poems both in Scots and English. The 2nd annual formal celebration will include all the traditional trappings of the occasion; haggis, piper, poetry recitations and an appearance by the laureate himself as portrayed by Taelen Thomas. 5:30pm, 412 Pacific Street, Monterey. $50. Lace up those hiking boots and set out on an adventure with guides from the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District. This morning they out on the Maple Canyon Trail, Sage Trail and Sky Loop at Garland Ranch in Carmel Valley for views of giant ferns, maple trees and Mesa Pond. The midlevel 3.5 mile hike is expected to last 3 hours. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes and to bring water, snacks and lunch. 9am, Garland Visitors Center, Carmel Valley. Free event.
