Dust off that cowboy hat because its time for the much anticipated California Rodeo Salinas! Big Week officially kicked off on July 14th but the best is yet to come! Friday welcomes a mini-parade down Main Street at 3:30pm followed by the grand entry which begins at 6pm. The weekend’s grand entries are complete with rodeo favorites like bull riding, bare back riding, steer wrestling and more! Saturday’s grand entry begins at 1:15pm followed by a special performance from country star Alan Jackson at 7:30pm. Sunday’s events include a horse parade and grand rodeo entry at 1:15pm. Thinking about ink? The Monterey County Fairgrounds hosts the first annual Ink by the Bay Tattoo Convention. This one-of-a-kind event will feature both local and international artists demonstrating their talents on site! 3pm-10pm on Friday, 11am-10pm on Saturday and 11am-6pm on Sunday. Lighthouse Avenue in Pacific Grove comes alive after 6pm during the Wine, Art and Music Walk. Take a look into some of the quaint Victorian storefronts for unique art exhibits, entertainment and light refreshments. 6pm-9pm, Lighthouse Avenue, Pacific Grove. Free event.
Take a trip to Big Sur and check out Songs Hotbox Harry Taught Us at the Fernwood Tavern. This eclectic country and Americana group always puts on quite the show using a fiddle, drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals! 9pm, 47200 Highway One, Big Sur. Free event.
Start your morning off with a hike through Mesa Pond and Maple Canyon in Garland Ranch Park with guides from the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District. The 3.5 mile is expected to last 2.5 hours. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water, snacks and to wear good hiking shoes. 10am, Garland Visitors Center, Carmel. Free event.

Bring the kids out to the kick off of the Feast of Lanterns in Pacific Grove! The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History hosts a family fun day and the much loved chalk fest. 11am-3pm, 165 Forest Avenue, Pacific Grove. Free event.
Join Galante Vineyards for a Summer Sounds Concert featuring Grammy award winning band Asleep at the Wheel and local band Beans and Rice. The summer event at the winery will be tons of fun full of music, food and, of course, wine! 2pm-7pm. 18181 Cachagua Road, Carmel Valley. $55.
Don’t miss out on the late-night happenings at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Evenings by the Bay allows visitors to stroll through the exhibits while enjoying live music and special programs. 6pm-8pm, 886 Cannery Row, Monterey. Free with aquarium admission.
The Monterey Bay Derby Dames’ Beasts of Eden are ready to take on the Richmond Wrecking Belles at today’s gnarly bout! The Water City Sports Center in Marina will be full of fierce competition great for spectating. 7pm, 2800 Second Avenue, Marina. $15.
