The Monterey Wine Festival takes this place this weekend throughout various venues in Monterey. The kickoff party will take place at the Hyatt Regency Monterey on Friday night at 5pm. Guests will enjoy new wines and have the opportunity to talk to the experts. Guests can also take the Champagne shuttle for a quick ride to the Monterey Museum of Art- La Mirada where excellent champagnes, whites and a few reds will end the evening. The celebration continues on Saturday at Custom House Plaza with a plethora of food and wine. Head to Circle Theatre in Carmel-by-the-Sea and catch a performance of A Number! The science-fiction production is told from a father and his sons and addresses tragic and dark issues in human cloning. Saturday at 2pm and 7:30pm and Sunday at 2pm. The 12th Annual Summer Wildflower Show takes place this weekend at the Garland Visitors Center in Carmel Valley. Visitors can enjoy wildflower displays, art classes, hikes and lectures. On Saturday morning at 10am The Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District will put on a special lecture about the wildflowers in Garland Ranch Regional Park and how to identify the different types of flowers. On Saturday at 1pm visitors can partake on a hike “Where the Wildflowers Are (or Were).” Hikers will be taken on a one-hour hike around the Lupine Loop to enjoy the scenery. Circle Theatre presents Eurydice in Carmel-by-the-Sea! The Greek story comes from the myth of Orpheus and takes Eurydice on a journey through life and death. 7:30pm. Monte Verde St. and 8th, Carmel-by-the-Sea. Tickets $7-$35.
The Carmel Mission Basilica will host the Wave, Women’s Antique Vocal Ensemble, tonight for a special performance that will take guests back in time. The Basilica will be the perfect setting for music performed from the medieval, Renaissance and Baroque time periods. 8pm, 3080 Rio Road, Carmel-by-the-Sea. $10-$20.
Alaskan natives Thera will perform tonight at Jose’s Underground Lounge. The diverse group will play original hardcore rock songs from their album “If This is the End…” 8pm, 638 Wave Street, Monterey.
A Band of Ninjas returns to Bullwacker’s tonight! They will cover a variety of songs from their musical influences including Ben Harper, Pearl Jam, Sublime, Steve Miller, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more! 8:30pm, 653 Cannery Row, Monterey. No cover.

Experience the warmth of Carmel Valley at the 7th Annual Art & Wine Celebration! The event will showcase local wines, strolling musicians and over 60 artists. It’s time for Monterey’s Beer Festival! Over 70 breweries will offer their beers at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. The event will include live music and great food. 12:30pm-5pm, 2004 Fairgrounds Rd., Monterey. Tickets are $35.
Side FX with Kim Cameron and Classified Frequency will take the stage at Jose’s Underground Lounge tonight! Side FX is a five piece pop rock band with Kim Cameron on the lead vocals. The group is influenced by artists including Kelly Clarkson, Carly Simon and Colbie Caillat. Classified Frequency will follow at 10pm with a blend of alternative and rock jams. 7pm, 638 Wave Street, Monterey.

The Henry Miller Library in Big Sur will host a special concert by Camper Van Beethoven tonight! If you were an alternative kid in the ‘80s, you listened to your cassingles of “Take the Skinheads Bowling” and “Pictures of Matchstick Men” until they wore out. If you’re a little younger, you’ve probably heard the Sublime cover of “Eye of Fatima” or Teenage Fanclub’s version of “Take the Skinheads Bowling.” Tonight, Camper Van Beethoven will play their epic ‘80s album, “Key Lime Pie,” in full. 6pm, Highway 1, Big Sur.
